Scope of work:

City of Darwin redeveloped the Casuarina Public Pool site into the Casuarina Aquatic and Leisure Centre, which provides a modern, family-friendly facility for the community to enjoy. This was a design and construct project featuring:

  • An eight-lane, 50-metre pool.
  • Resort-style lagoon pool.
  • Learn to swim pool.
  • Cafe and BBQ facilities.
  • Dry and wet play areas.
  • Basketball half-court.
  • Swimming club rooms.
  • New Amenities building, Café building, Allied Health building and Fitness Centre.

Our Role:

Byrne Consultants provided the following civil engineering design services to the project:

  • Bulk Earthworks Design.
  • Stormwater Drainage Design.
  • Overall Site Grading Design and Disabled Access (DDA) Compliance to all external areas.
  • External carpark, footpaths and picnic slabs / basketball court design.
  • Erosion and Sediment Control.
  • Bill of Quantities and Estimate of Cost.
  • Civil Technical Specifications.
  • Civil Construction Supervision and Certifications.

Project Outcomes:

The project delivered a high-quality public pool facility designed to benefit the local community, featuring full compliance with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) access requirements across the entire site and achieving strong stakeholder satisfaction.
