Scope of work:
Kittyhawk Estate (the Site) is situated on Section 1900 and 1902 Hundred of Ayers, Channel Island Road, in the suburb of Wickham, Northern
Territory. The Site is a 335-hectare industrial estate forming part of the larger Middle Arm Industrial Precinct (MAIP) located on the
Middle Arm Peninsula approximately 9 kilometres from the City of Palmerston, and adjacent to the land identified for the future City of
Weddell. The MAIP was established to accommodate large strategic industries for downstream gas processing and gas related developments.
Overall, the precinct can accommodate a range of incoming industries including industrial (oil, gas, chemical), utilities (power
generation), logistics (rail), and commercial. The precinct has an extensive corridor network for the efficient transmission of utilities,
gas, feedstock, and products.
Our Role:
Byrne Consultants were responsible for engineering feasibility assessment, concept design, detailed design and construction contract
administration.
Masterplanning Stage:
Byrne Consultants revised the electrical and water masterplans for the estate and undertook
detailed design and documentation of the subdivision including the following:
- Road layouts including Channel Island Road intersection.
- Pavements.
- Stormwater Drainage.
- Water distribution mains and reticulation.
- Electrical HV and LV reticulation.
- Street lighting.
- Landscaping.
- Erosion and sediment control.
- Safety in Design.
- Risk assessment - Channel Island Road intersection.
- Stormwater management plan for Development Application.
- Liaison with environmental, planning and surveying consultants.
- Service Authority liaison and approvals.
Feasibility Concept Development Stage:

Liaison with Power and water Corporation to obtain information on existing electrical and water infrastructure and future interconnection
requirements and determine future responsibilities for servicing the estate.

Liaison with Telstra to obtain information on existing telecommunications infrastructure and future interconnection requirements and
determine future responsibilities for servicing the estate.

Construction Stage:
Byrne Consultants role during the construction stage included:
- Superintendency of Construction Contract.
- Site inspections.
- Hydraulic certification.
- Civil certification.
Project Outcomes:
Byrne Consultants successfully delivered a design aligned with the LDC's strategic objectives. Stakeholder interactions were enhanced
through proactive and positive engagement practices, fostering strong collaboration throughout the process. This approach contributed to
the successful completion of both the design and the subsequent construction phases.
