Scope of work:
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) is managing the development of remote housing across the Northern Territory. Byrne
Consultants was engaged to undertake a range of associated roles, including community master planning of new subdivision areas,
community engagement, development of approved residential subdivisions and infrastructure design.
Our Role:
Byrne Consultants experienced and qualified personnel’s approach to community master planning has included:

Site Assessment: topography, existing infrastructure, natural resources, and environmental constraints such as cultural areas, flood risks,
and biodiversity.

Demographic Analysis: consider projected population and associated housing needs. • Land Use and Zoning: review of existing land uses.

Infrastructure Audit: assess infrastructure capacity such as roads, water supply, sewerage and identify gaps or required upgrades.
- Land Use Scenarios: develop several land use scenarios for consideration, showing different ways the community could grow.

Assess Infrastructure Need: based on projected growth and land use options, identify necessary infrastructure such as road network, water,
and energy systems.
- Cost Benefit Analysis: assess potential economic benefits, environmental risks, and sustainability of each scenario.
- Infrastructure Planning: roads, pedestrian routes.
Project Outcomes:
Byrne Consultants has developed revised master plans and subdivision concepts for various remote communities. Byrne Consultants are now
assisting DLI to masterplan new greenfield areas and exploring satellite community options.
