Scope of work:

The NT Subdivision Development Guidelines are a Northern Territory Government initiative to consolidate and standardise subdivision design and construction requirements across all localities within the Northern Territory.

Our Role:

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) commissioned Byrne Consultants to provide technical assistance in development of the Guidelines.

  • Project management and extensive stakeholder engagement.
  • Review of existing council guidelines and industry standards to benchmark requirements.
  • Preparation of a detailed research paper into establishing a design basis for stormwater infrastructure, including selection of design methods, storm events, and hydraulic performance criteria.
  • Coordination of specialist sub-consultant support services including stormwater quality, street hierarchy, traffic engineering, access and mobility, landscaping, electrical, communications, and street lighting.
  • Preparation of the Subdivision Development Guidelines, including a supporting set of Standard Drawings and a Standard Specification for Subdivisions.
  • Involvement with User Interface Workshops to establish an online platform and resolve amendment/variation processes.
  • Facilitation of Technical Working Group Sessions with key stakeholders including industry bodies, Local Government, NT Government agencies, and service authority representatives.
  • Preparation of a cost analysis study to understand the capital construction cost impacts and potential lot yield adjustments resulting from adoption of the proposed Guidelines.
  • Industry briefings and presentations to inform key stakeholders of project updates.

This project involves the design and documentation of site servicing and civil layout plans for remote infill lot developments across the Northern Territory to support the Remote Housing Program.

Richardson Park Redevelopment

Richardson Park Redevelopment

The Richardson Park redevelopment transformed a six-hectare site in Ludmilla into a vibrant community space. The project delivered shared pathways, picnic areas, playgrounds, upgraded rugby league and training fields, community carparks, modern club facilities, and a new road extension connecting Richardson Drive to Ludmilla Primary School.
