Scope of work:
The objective of the Risk Management of Armidale Class Patrol Boat Maintenance Project was to develop a collaborative risk register that
identifies, rates and provides mitigation of the 60-month maintenance program risks.
Our Role:
Byrne Consultants was engaged to lead a comprehensive risk assessment process. This involved:
- Interviewing key stakeholders to identify the context, key risks and opportunities.
- Facilitating a risk identification workshop to identify hazards and initial risk rating.
- Facilitating a risk assessment workshop to identify mitigations and residual risk.
- Preparing a risk register to reflect the outcomes from both workshops.
Project Outcomes:
Risk workshops were successfully coordinated as a collaborative approach with staff from Thales Australia and the Royal Australian Navy. The
workshops included an overview of risk management, hazard identification, assessment of likelihood, consequence, and definition of the level
of risk/opportunity. The risk workshops approach was to facilitate small groups through different sessions to identify hazards, assess risks
and opportunities, and identify key unacceptable risks and mitigations. A risk and opportunity register was developed for the 60-month
maintenance program based upon the input from the workshops. The register highlighted risks and opportunities and the proposed mitigations
to achieve the desired level of acceptable risk. The register was developed to meet the specific requirements of Thales Australia and the
Royal Australian Navy. The register was a critical tool used to plan the maintenance program.
