Scope of work:
The objective of the Site Identification and Assessment Project is to identify potential sites across the Northern Territory and assess
their suitability for development based on client requirements.
Our Role:
Byrne Consultants were engaged to complete a site identification and assessment process in the Alice Springs, Katherine, Greater Darwin,
East Arnhem and Tiwi Island regions of the Northern Territory. The role involved the establishment of site requirements in collaboration
with the client and stakeholders, identification of potential sites based on the agreed criteria and a desktop assessment of each site
against individual criteria including land tenure and zoning, accessibility, including for emergency services, availability of essential
services and potential cost for development. Information was collated across 20 separate criteria for each site to undertake a comparative
assessment including risks and opportunities. Presentation maps were prepared for each site suitable for Executive, providing site data in a
clear, easy to interpret way.
Project Outcomes:
The project has resulted in the Department having ready access to information regarding potentially suitable sites with an understanding of
the potential risks and benefits of each site. This information will be suitable to inform future planning for the development of
infrastructure to support new building facilities.
