Scope of work:
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) commissioned Byrne Consultants to undertake safety inspections of road shoulders and
road infrastructure such as guardrail and culverts on 10 sites across Northern Territory (360 kms of road). This included preparing
estimates, design documentation and tender documents for each site to allow the construction upgrade of road shoulder projects by various
treatments. These projects formed part of the National Road Safety Program to provide life-saving road safety treatments and increase
protection for vulnerable road users.
Our Role:
Byrne Consultants were engaged to undertake the following scope of works: • Undertake road asset inspections on all major highways across
the Northern Territory. • Undertake road safety assessment and determine remedial works required. • Implementation of required traffic
control measures during inspections. • Provision of specially equipped vehicles for inspections. • Asset and defect logging including GPS
location. • Prepare design solutions, quantities, estimates and contract documentation and RFT’s.
Project Outcomes:
Byrne Consultants successfully demonstrated a thorough understanding of road safety standards throughout the project along with the proven
ability to successfully undertake pavement and roadside asset inspection and assessment, with detailed data logging of road networks. Byrne
Consultants delivered a report that provides detailed information on the risk assessment and scoping documentation for road shoulder
upgrades.
